Album Announcements: Isaiah Rashad Set to Release New Album ‘It’s Been Awful’

Isaiah Rashad is making a highly anticipated return to the music scene with his upcoming album, “It’s Been Awful,” set to drop on May 1, 2026, via Top Dawg Entertainment and Warner Records. This marks Rashad’s first album in five years, and fans are eagerly awaiting what he has in store.

To build excitement, Rashad has unveiled a cinematic trailer that portrays him limping across a field following a dramatic attack, offering a glimpse into the themes of his new project. Alongside this, pre-saves for the lead single, “Same Sh!t,” have been launched, with its release expected soon.

Additionally, it appears that Rashad is preparing for an accompanying tour, as evidenced by an interactive website featuring a poster for the “It’s Been Awful Tour.” Fans visiting the site can also catch a snippet of an unreleased instrumental, hinting at the musical direction of the upcoming album.

Earlier this week, Rashad teased the album on his Instagram Stories with a cryptic card that read, “Everybody wanna see you crash out, fall off, and burn out all for their entertainment. I just wanna see you smile.” The back of the card revealed the album’s title, “It’s Been Awful,” capturing the attention of his followers.

Support has poured in from fellow TDE artists such as Doechii, ScHoolboy Q, and SiR, who have shared their excitement for the album on social media.

In a previous interview with VICE, Rashad discussed the creative direction of “It’s Been Awful,” citing influences from artists like OutKast, Prince, and Fousheé. He expressed that Fousheé had a significant impact on his work, stating, “The biggest inspiration for me was Fousheé,” and noted that he’s drawing from the sounds of OutKast’s classic albums, “Stankonia” and “The Love Below.”

Describing the album’s sound, Rashad mentioned it will feature a “sultry southern mix with a deep sense of intimacy,” incorporating elements from rock, psychedelia, and the vibrant musical heritage of the South.

“It’s Been Awful” follows Rashad’s 2021 album “The House is Burning,” which came after a five-year hiatus since his critically acclaimed project, “The Sun’s Tirade.” With this new release, fans can expect a blend of artistic growth and heartfelt storytelling from the talented MC.
