In a troubling incident that underscores the ongoing issues of celebrity stalking, a Brooklyn man has been arrested for allegedly harassing Grammy-winning singer H.E.R. for over two years. Jonathan Goldstonewerse, a resident of DUMBO, faces charges of stalking and harassment after a series of alarming messages and behaviors directed at the artist.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, Goldstonewerse’s harassment began in August 2023. He reportedly inundated H.E.R. with calls and texts, including one message in which he claimed, “We just met a few days ago at the parking lot. I’m not forcing you to talk to me. I’m just telling you that I miss you.”
The complaint details that the suspect went as far as sending videos of his feet to H.E.R. from the same phone number, alongside flowers and a signed card addressed to her apartment. In another concerning text, he wrote, “Hey sweetheart, wish you would check on me, got a lot going on.”
Prosecutors have alleged that Goldstonewerse took his fixation further by following H.E.R. to her home, appearing at her apartment, and even attempting to open her car door. Following these incidents, he was charged with stalking and harassment but has since been released.
As of now, H.E.R. has not publicly addressed the situation. This case serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability that many public figures face and the importance of addressing and preventing stalking behaviors.
