Celebrity Lawsuits: Tupac Shakur’s Family Takes Legal Action Against Accused Killer Keefe D

In a compelling turn of events, the family of the late hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur has filed a new wrongful death lawsuit against Duane “Keefe D” Davis, who is accused of being involved in Tupac’s murder. The suit was initiated by Tupac’s stepbrother, Maurice “Mopreme” Shakur, and was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on April 28, 2026.

According to a report from the Los Angeles Times, the lawsuit alleges that Davis and a number of unidentified co-conspirators were part of a “complex conspiracy to murder Tupac that involved much more than mere retaliation for a prior altercation.” In the complaint, Mopreme expresses that while many involved in the conspiracy have since passed away or remain unidentified, there are still individuals who have not been held accountable for their actions over the past three decades.

Mopreme specifically names Keefe D and a range of “John Does” as potential participants in the planning and execution of Tupac’s murder, which occurred on September 7, 1996, in Las Vegas. The lawsuit cites new evidence that was not available during the family’s initial wrongful death lawsuit filed in 1997. This includes claims made in the 50 Cent-produced Netflix documentary, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, where Keefe D reportedly suggested that Sean “Diddy” Combs may have offered him a substantial sum to orchestrate Tupac’s murder. Diddy has vehemently denied any involvement in Tupac’s death.

Currently, Keefe D is being held in a Las Vegas jail awaiting trial, having been arrested in September 2023 on murder charges related to Tupac’s killing. Authorities allege that he was in possession of the firearm used in the drive-by shooting and was present during the attack. Tragically, the other three individuals in the vehicle at the time of the incident have since died, including Keefe D’s nephew, Orlando Anderson, who was the suspected shooter before being killed in a separate incident in 1998.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the Shakur family’s pursuit of justice for Tupac continues to resonate with fans and advocates alike. The case serves as a reminder of the unresolved issues surrounding Tupac’s untimely death and the ongoing efforts to hold those responsible accountable.
