In a developing legal saga, former BBC Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood has been hit with two more sexual assault charges, raising the total number of allegations against him to 17. The Metropolitan Police announced these additional charges on September 22, which involve two women and incidents dating back over a decade. One charge alleges that Westwood indecently assaulted a girl who was between 16 and 17 years old in Hammersmith and Fulham in 1991. The other charge pertains to the sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman in Wandsworth in May 2004.
Westwood was already facing a significant number of allegations, including 15 charges involving seven women, which span from 1983 to 2016. Among these prior allegations are four counts of rape, as well as several counts of indecent and sexual assault. He has pleaded not guilty to all initial charges in Southwark Crown Court back in December 2025.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) approved the two additional charges after a thorough review of evidence gathered during the Metropolitan Police investigation. Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor Catherine P. Baccas stated that these new charges stem from separate reports made by the two women involved.
As of now, Westwood has not entered pleas regarding the new charges and is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, although a specific date for this appearance has not yet been announced. Meanwhile, the trial related to the original 15 charges is scheduled to commence on January 25, 2027, at Southwark Crown Court. The CPS has urged caution against any commentary that could potentially influence the ongoing legal proceedings.
